Kavrepalanchok destination Kotthumka awaits visitors

Kotthumka, situated in ward number 10 of Mandan Deupur municipality within Kavrepalanchok, provides visitors with unobstructed vistas of northern Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest, during clear weather conditions. The hilltop has increasingly captured the attention of travellers following the establishment of a Buddha park and a dedicated statue. Local teacher Shalikram Parajuli and other residents note that additional tourist infrastructure is necessary, urging both local communities and the federal government to undertake further development work. Highlighting the importance of the wider region, locals point out that promoting the main attraction can successfully draw both domestic and international visitors to the area. The municipality itself was formed through the merger of four former village development committees, namely Chandeni Mandan, Mahadevsthan, Jaishithok, and Jyamdi. Meanwhile, the nearby tourist spot of Thandada offers reliable lodging and drinking water amenities for travellers exploring the vicinity. Buddhist adherents refer to the locality as Samadhi Buddha Mountain, according to Parajuli. Residents emphasize that bringing greater attention to these scenic hills will allow more tourists to discover and enjoy the landscape.
