A mandatory National Identity Card requirement will come into effect for health insurance services starting from 1 Poush 2083. A decision made on 12 Asoj by the board's office in that area dictates that citizens aged 16 and above must present their identity card number for various procedures within the health insurance program. The rule applies to individuals entering the health insurance program for the first time, those renewing their existing policies, and beneficiaries accessing medical services. For individuals who enrolled in the program previously without providing a National Identity Card number, arrangements have been made to submit the required number at healthcare facilities when seeking treatment. This decision follows a previous notice published by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Nepal Gazette on 10 Asar 2081. That notification had initially outlined provisions regarding mandatory identity card implementation for the health insurance system to take effect from 1 Saun 2082.
