The Nepali Congress opened the closed session of its 15th National General Convention on Monday in Kathmandu, marking the next stage of its central assembly that officially launched on Sunday. Party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said the closed meeting was scheduled to start once the Central Working Committee concluded discussions on reports intended for presentation to delegates. A formal meeting of the Central Working Committee was called for 10:00 am on Monday ahead of the session. The leadership gathered to finalise key programmatic documents before laying them before party representatives gathered for the national gathering. Alongside the closed discussions, the party election body made public the official calendar for selecting the next Central Working Committee. Raju Katuwal, member-secretary of the Congress Central Election Committee, stated that the preliminary election process would commence at 5:00 pm on Monday. Under the released timetable, aspirants can register candidacies on Tuesday between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. An initial roster of candidates will appear at 4:30 pm, followed by an hour allocated for objections until 5:30 pm, before a revised candidate list is posted at 7:00 pm. The election calendar specifies that candidate withdrawals may take place until 9:00 am on Wednesday, 7 October (Ashoj 21). The final roster of contestants will be issued at 10:00 am that day, with election voting scheduled to proceed on 8 October.
