NEPSE rises by 11.96 points as daily turnover falls to 3.13 billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange index closed at 2,578 points on Tuesday as ten sub-indices recorded gains while non-life insurance and microfinance declined.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a positive movement on Tuesday, climbing by 11.96 points to close at 2,578 points. Despite the upward trend in the share market index, the total daily turnover saw a decline, dropping to 3.13 billion rupees from the 3.27 billion rupees recorded during the previous trading session. A total of 169 companies saw their share prices rise during the day's trading, while 95 companies experienced a decline in their share values, and 15 remained unchanged. Ten out of the twelve sub-indices finished the day in positive territory. The trading sector led the gains with an increase of 0.82 per cent, followed closely by the banking sector which rose by 0.65 per cent. Other sectors that registered growth included hydropower by 0.62 per cent, development banks by 0.55 per cent, hotels and tourism by 0.53 per cent, and investment by 0.43 per cent. The others category went up by 0.39 per cent, life insurance increased by 0.35 per cent, manufacturing and processing grew by 0.27 per cent, and finance rose by 0.15 per cent. Conversely, the non-life insurance index fell by 0.06 per cent, and the microfinance index dropped by 0.17 points. Among the individual companies, Trishuli Hydropower emerged as the top gainer with a share price increase of 5.11 per cent. Salapa Development Bank rose by 3.77 per cent, Hathway Investment climbed by 3.65 per cent, Butwal Power gained 3.57 per cent, and Liberty Energy went up by 3.50 per cent. On the losing side, Sarvottam Paints dropped by 4.94 per cent, Chirkhwa Hydropower fell by 3.00 per cent, and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta declined by 2.84 per cent.
