Sitting near the wreckage of his business, resort operator Hum Thapa posted a photograph on Facebook last Thursday. The image featured his dog alongside a caption about standing together through difficult circumstances. According to Thapa, natural forces proved unstoppable as floodwaters ruined structures including swimming pools, a restaurant, and gardens that had been built to attract nature-loving visitors. Thapa stated that the enterprise began with an initial investment of one crore rupees, which eventually expanded to over two crore rupees. Because the property sits alongside the riverbank, the floods caused extensive erosion of the land. Consequently, rebuilding protective embankments will demand considerable financial resources alongside the restoration of the damaged facilities. Despite the heavy physical losses, Thapa expressed resilience and a determination to resume operations with a fresh perspective. He noted that relatives, friends, and acquaintances living both within the country and abroad have been offering spontaneous encouragement and financial help. Furthermore, he mentioned holding optimism regarding potential relief assistance from state bodies such as Galkot Municipality. The traditional style houses constructed for visitors seeking a natural environment were also impacted by the disaster. As reconstruction planning gets underway, Thapa emphasized that the outpouring of moral backing from his network provides him with the resolve necessary to overcome the setback and restore the destination.
