  • Rain blocks 11 highways across Nepal, Department of Roads says

    Traffic on 11 highways and a number of other road sections has been disrupted by floods and landslides brought on by rain that has continued since 24 September, the Department of Roads said in a notice on the morning of 26 September 2026. The Prithvi Highway is obstructed at Krishnabhir, Chaukibhir, Jawangkhola and Fisling, affecting vehicles heading to Kathmandu. The BP Highway is blocked at Mamti, Piple, Daunne-Kalopul, Charsayabesi, Katunje and Chaukidanda. Vehicles have been halted day and night in stretches judged high-risk while landslide debris is cleared. Traffic through the Makwanpur section of the Kanti Highway has resumed.
