In short

  • Goat trade valuation reached Rs. 40 million in Humla during Dashain.
  • Women farmers in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality sold 700 goats.
  • Direct cooperative purchases helped families cover festival expenses.

Humla witnessed a substantial volume of livestock commerce during the recent Dashain festival period. Financial transactions involving goat trading reached a total valuation of Rs. 40 million within the district. Individual traders experienced peak business activity, with specific sellers recording hundreds of transactions during the festive weeks. Parallel economic activity occurred in Banke district, where women involved in commercial farming through a local cooperative disposed of seven hundred animals. Buyers and consumers travelled directly to the cooperative facilities to acquire livestock by weight. Participants reported that these earnings successfully funded their festival expenditures. Producers engaged in collective farming expanded their annual yield significantly, with individual members increasing their yearly sales figures. The direct purchasing model allowed customers to acquire locally raised livestock without intermediary involvement, strengthening cooperative revenues and household incomes throughout the region during the holiday season.
