In short

  • The Annapurna Circuit trail reopened on Monday after snow clearance.
  • Twenty people cleared heavy snow from the Thorong-La Pass.
  • Tourist numbers increased in Ghandruk following better road access.

The trekking trail situated within the Annapurna Conservation Area has officially resumed operations. Twenty people undertook the task of clearing accumulated snow from the Thorong-La Pass. This snow removal initiative was organised by the Muktinath Hotel Association to restore passage along the popular route linking Manang and Mustang. Suraj Gurung, who serves as the president of the Muktinath Hotel Association, noted that the route has been made significantly easier for trekkers following the clearance of heavy snow. The association confirmed that visitors can now complete treks from Manang through the Thorong-La Pass to reach Mustang without encountering obstacles. Concurrently, visitor numbers have begun to rise in Ghandruk. Observers in Pokhara noted that increased visitor arrivals follow improvements made to the road leading into the tourist village, which is located in Annapurna Rural Municipality wards 10 and 11 within Kaski.
