The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has launched a series of legal actions against several public officials accused of corruption. On 5 October 2026, the anti-graft body filed a charge sheet against three individuals, including engineer Deepa Karki of the Kageshwari Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu district, on charges of accepting bribes. This action followed charges filed on 1 October 2026 against eight individuals, including Rajiv Rimal, the then head of the Water Supply, Irrigation and Energy Development Office in Mugu, for allegedly securing illegal benefits. Further charges were filed on 30 September 2026 against ten individuals in Lamjung district. The accused include Shekharnath Neupane, the former employment coordinator of Rainas Municipality, and Ramchandra Adhikari, the former chief administrative officer. According to the commission, the accused are facing charges of causing damage to public property. Additionally, on 29 September 2026, the anti-graft body filed a corruption case against four individuals, including food research officer Arjun Adhikari of the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, for allegedly receiving bribes. Alongside the new corruption charges, the commission has actively appealed several recent decisions made by the Special Court. On 6 October 2026, the CIAA registered an appeal in the Supreme Court of Nepal expressing dissatisfaction with the Special Court's ruling regarding Sachindra Kumar Yadav, who was accused of accumulating illegal wealth. The commission is also challenging a Special Court decision concerning Krishna Bahadur Khangaha, who was accused of securing a teaching position using a fake academic certificate. The anti-graft body has also taken other property damage cases to the apex court. On 2 October 2026, the commission filed an appeal against the Special Court's decision in a public property damage case involving Amar Bahadur Thapa and others. A similar appeal was registered on 1 October 2026 regarding a public property damage case involving Dhan Bahadur Bista and others. The commission has requested the Supreme Court of Nepal to review these rulings.
