Nepal are set to play against Sri Lanka in the quarterfinal fixture at the 20th Asian Games. Their previous group encounter against Japan at Kourogi Sports Park in Nagoya suffered a premature end due to unfavourable weather conditions. Persistent rain forced officials to reduce the match length to 15 overs. Sent in to bat first, Nepal accumulated 149 runs for four wickets within the shortened allocation. Opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel departed early after contributing four runs from 12 deliveries. His partner Aasif Sheikh added 21 runs off 15 balls, managing a single boundary and one maximum before returning to the pavilion. Before the second innings could commence, heavy rain returned to the venue, making any continuation impossible. Consequently, the fixture was called off without a result. The outcome leaves Nepal preparing for their upcoming knockout challenge against Sri Lanka.
